This extension just shows you Hebrew dates when you hover over regular dates. It remembers which websites you turned it on/off for. That's all. We don't spy on you or collect your data.

Overview

Smart Hebrew Date Converter is committed to protecting your privacy. This extension operates entirely on your device and does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information.

Data Collection

We do NOT collect any personal data.

What We Store Locally

The extension stores only the following data in your browser's local storage:

Site Preferences (siteSettings)

  • Which websites you've enabled/disabled the extension on
  • Example: {"example.com": false} means you disabled it on example.com
  • This data never leaves your browser

That's it. No browsing history, no personal information, no tracking.

Third-Party Services

HebCal.com API

The extension uses the HebCal.com API to convert Gregorian dates to Hebrew calendar dates. This API is provided by Hebcal.com with a CC BY 4.0 International License.

What gets sent to HebCal:

  • Only the dates you hover over (e.g., "2024-01-15")
  • Your IP address (standard for any HTTP request)

What does NOT get sent:

  • Your browsing history
  • Personal information
  • Website URLs
  • User identifiers

HebCal Privacy: HebCal.com has its own privacy policy. We have no control over how they handle requests. Please review their privacy policy for details.

Caching: To minimize API calls and improve performance, Hebrew date conversions are cached in your browser during your session. These are automatically cleared when you close your browser.

Permissions Explained

The extension requests the following permissions:

To save your site-specific enable/disable preferences locally in your browser

To detect which website you're on (to apply your site preferences)

Why These Permissions?

We request the minimum permissions necessary for the extension to function. We do NOT:

  • Access your browsing history
  • Read or modify website content beyond date detection
  • Track your activity
  • Share data with third parties (except HebCal for date conversion)

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share your data with anyone.

The only external communication is with HebCal.com API for date conversions, which is necessary for the extension to function.

Your Rights

You have complete control over this extension:

Disable Anytime

Click the extension icon and toggle off for any site

Uninstall

Remove the extension completely from chrome://extensions/

Clear Data

Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored preferences

Changes to Privacy Policy

If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document and notify users through the Chrome Web Store update notes.

Children's Privacy

This extension does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13.
